As we are a new organization, we are currently forming our founding group of Member Organizations.
INTERESTED IN JOINING?
Our goal is to create a network of organizations that are dedicated to dismantling systemic racism in Southern Oregon. As such, we ask that all interested organizations agree to the following:
All Member Organizations align with SOEquity’s stated values.
All Member Organizations will develop and adopt Antiracist Goals to address and dismantle white supremacist systems within their organization. This includes, but is not limited to:
Evaluating hiring practices
Evaluating discrepancies in clientele outreach
Establishing a commitment to Accessibility
All Member Organizations will provide 1-2 individual(s) to serve as Member Organization Representative(s). This role’s responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
Attending SOEquity General Meetings
Attending relevant SOEquity Committee Meetings
Coordinating resources between SOEquity and their Member Organization
All Member Organizations will commit to collaboration on relevant policy development, and resource cultivation and dispersion.
WHAT WE OFFER
When an issue or event occurs that requires immediate action (like the revitalized Black Lives Matter movement currently happening), we will host meetings with organizations across Southern Oregon to develop action plans in order to avoid doubling the work and reinventing the wheel across organizations and groups.
We will develop specific policy proposals and demands to achieve an antiracist Southern Oregon. We will offer this framework to all Member Organizations and work with City and County governments in the region to implement those plans.
We will host a biannual conference to address the State of the Region, celebrate the work we have done and determine short-term and long-term goals moving forward.
Education & Trainings
We will offer educational resources and training opportunities for local organizations around policy implementation and antiracism work.
We will help amplify events and efforts from other organizations in Southern Oregon and provide a webpage on SOEquity.org to help take some of the technological burden off of smaller groups and organizations so they can focus on direct services and on-the-ground action.
