BIAS INCIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM
Bias Response Team Member: In January, we launched a Bias Reporting System to provide support to community members who experience a bias incident or hate crime in Jackson and Josephine Counties. We are looking for people willing to field online, paper, and over the phone submissions and follow up with folks submitting these reports. 6-8 hours/month.
HAWTHORNE MUTUAL AID
Meal Service Volunteers: We serve free, hot lunches at Hawthorne Park in Medford every day from 11a-2p. We are looking for volunteers to staff the lunches and support the project virtually by tracking shelter/resource data for the unhoused community. 3-12 hours/month.
Intermittent Clean Up Support: Occasionally, we need help cleaning up our storage unit or related spaces to ensure our mutual aid efforts run as smoothly as possible.
Spanish Interpreters: We are looking for a handful of Spanish speakers that could provide translation services for social media posts, events, and general communications. We work to make these paid opportunities whenever possible. 4-8 hours/month.
ASL Interpreters: We are looking for a small pool of interpreters able to provide ASL services at our community events. 2-8 hours/month
City Liaisons: We are looking for folks excited about civic engagement to commit to attending their town’s regular city council meetings and other work sessions, engage with local lawmakers, and help SOEquity develop policy suggestions. As you will be formally representing our organization, this position requires being a SOEquity General Member. 5-8 hours/month (depending on meeting lengths).
Research Assistants: We are looking for a few dedicated individuals that enjoy digging into local policy, laws, and plans. This position is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about how government interacts with citizens. General Membership is encouraged but not required for this position. 4-8 hours/month.
Communications Assistants: We are looking for friendly, confident folks that could monitor our various communications methods (Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, Google Voice) and respond to messages. SOEquity leadership would be available to support with information, resources, etc. Bilingual volunteers are prioritized. 4-8 hours/month.
Social Media Moderators: We are looking for anyone with good communication skills that would be willing to engage our followers on social media. This would include monitoring/responding to public comments, enforcing our communication guidelines for our Facebook and Instagram pages, and passing along private messages to Communcation's volunteers. 4-8 hours/month.
